In a major push to improve disability support access, AmplifyCare has announced the expansion of its services to regional and remote areas across Australia. The move comes as NDIS participants outside major cities continue to face significant challenges in accessing quality care.
Closing the Care Divide
The expansion will see AmplifyCare:
-
Establish local hubs in 10 regional locations by mid-2025
-
Train and deploy 200 additional support workers in rural areas
-
Introduce mobile care teams for remote communities
-
Expand telehealth services for specialist support
Addressing Critical Shortages
Regional NDIS participants currently wait up to 40% longer for services compared to urban areas. “We’ve heard heartbreaking stories of families traveling hours for basic therapies,” said AmplifyCare CEO Dr. Emily Harris. “This expansion ensures geography doesn’t determine care quality.”
Government Backing
The initiative has secured $5 million in federal funding as part of the NDIS Rural and Remote Strategy. Minister for the NDIS Bill Shorten called it “a game-changer for regional accessibility.”
Participant Excitement
Bundaberg mother Lisa Tran, whose son has cerebral palsy, shared: “For years we’ve struggled to find consistent therapists. Knowing AmplifyCare is coming gives us hope.”
What’s Next?
The first regional hubs will open in Wagga Wagga, Bunbury and Townsville by October 2024, with more locations to follow.
Final Thought:
As Dr. Harris noted: “Every Australian deserves equal access to life-changing support – no matter their postcode.”
